Relay vs Zendesk

Zendesk is a better product. It is also priced so that growing your support team costs you more every month, forever. If your team is small and stable, that trade is fine. If it isn't, the arithmetic turns.

Zendesk, as published

Suite Team from $55/agent/mo billed annually, Suite Growth $89, Suite Professional $115. AI add-ons are priced separately on top.

Where Zendesk is better

  • A far deeper product — decades of workflow, reporting, and integration surface we do not match
  • A large app marketplace and an ecosystem of consultants who already know it
  • Enterprise compliance certifications and procurement paperwork already in place
  • You do not have to run anything. That is worth real money to a team without ops capacity.

Where Relay is better

  • Adding agents costs nothing — the bill does not move when your team grows
  • Support history sits in your own database; migrating away is a pg_dump, not a support ticket
  • The whole thing is $99 once, so the buying decision doesn't need a budget cycle
  • You can read the code that handles your customers' data

So which one

Choose Zendesk if…

Choose Zendesk if you need the ecosystem, the certifications, or the depth — or if nobody on your team should be running infrastructure. Those are good reasons and we won't argue with them.

Choose Relay if…

Choose Relay if your seat count is growing, if support history is data you want to keep, or if the per-agent bill has started shaping decisions about who gets access.
